Oh look, an art show. One day only! 7-10pm @ Co-Lab (613 Allen on the East Side). I will steal the words the artists chose to describe it (insert deep breath here): "Drawing from the collections of Warren Aldrich and Lillian Gerson, comes a frantic onslaught of visual information reminiscent of the cluttered energy of a packed flea market stall or an overcrowded garage sale. Both artists work with a strong collage mentality handling every medium with a process of accumulation, from the paintings composed of minuscule dots and dense layering to the assemblages of found objects. Just as each individual piece is essential to the series, so too is the crowded context crucial to the singular, thus leading the viewer to seriously consider the possibility that quantity can truly dictate quality." The Texas Union and ECC present Robert Bresson's "Pickpocket" @ the Texas Union Theater 7:30 PM. It's FREE and it's way more accessible than the French New Wave your friend that's into that stuff tried to turn you on to. It's entertaining, but never untrue to it's subjects. AKA good. I like

Marvel as John Stamos and the professional Canadian/pretty lady known only as Vanity conspire to overthrow a post-apocalyptic, hermaphrodite overlord named Velvet Von Ragner, who is incidentally played by Gene Simmons of KISS. No, I'm not making this up. I have never personally seen this movie, but I can safely say that even having someone tell me its premise was one of the most riveting experiences of my life.

"The Last Unicorn," with writer Peter S. Beagle live, in person @ Alamo Drafthouse Lake Creek (13729 Research Blvd) 7 PM, $9/ human.

For those of you unfamiliar with talking to women, this movie is pretty great. The voice work alone is worth the drive: Mia Farrow, Alan Arkin, Jeff Bridges, Angela Lansbury, and Christopher Lee as the scary bad guy, imagine that. The most 70s Hollywood feeling ever allowed into fantasy animation. Ok, aside from Ralph Bakshi, but he's something else entirely

+ MUSIC THAT IS NEW, LIVE, AND FREE
Featuring: International Waters, Caddywhompus, and Hatchet Wound (debut performance by Erin of Finally Punk and the indomitable Nigel of Bearclaw). It's all happening at Club 1808 (1808 E. 12th, how clever) from 9-12. Check it out. By the way, anyone know what's happened to Bearclaw?
