WEEK IN PRE-VIEW
My airport card is no longer on the fritz. Welcome back, internets! At first glance, this week may seem a bit slow, but you know that just ain't true. Here are some ideas
TONIGHT
Don't think I need help with the whole sweating thing right now, but I appreciate the thought. Also, rock n' roll karaoke at Beerland! Get your rock on
TUESDAY
Terror Tuesday proudly presents the only movie that Stephen King was ever allowed to direct. Ever. Come watch Emilio Estevez take on hordes of inexplicably evil machines lead (?) by an 18-wheeler with a goblin face. It's 100% Michael Bay free evil machine action for Summer '09. Not convinced?
WEDNESDAY
This week's guest DJ is Mubali, so you know there's gonna be more dubstep than you can shake your ass at. 18+ and $2 drinks, as per always
THURSDAY
Black Panda is headlining at Emo's! That's very cool and easily some of the best punk music to be had in our fair city
And if you're heading down to 1st Thursday, be sure and check this out
FRIDAY
Um, Designer Drugs and Transistor Tramps are playing at Headhunters. Poster: forthcoming. Venue choice: confusing. This show: real?
SATURDAY
Celebrate your country by consuming cylindrical chunks of protein. Wow, let me try that again. Come celebrate your right to assemble by eating some veggie dogs with a few hundred of your closest friends! If veggie dogs aren't your thing, there's free NadaMoo. Soundtrack provided by Hollywood Gossip and the Black. Yay for eating contests, yay for community, and yay for le US of A.

TASTIC
I don't know whether it's the heat or the death of two of the 70s/80s most iconic peoples, but dang, the summer blues do come on strong. Luckily, there's a cure, AKA alot to do
WITNESS THE FRIDAY
Rancho Relaxo is celebrating the way the heat makes us all feel by throwing a zombie party! Lineup includes Peter Panic, Magic Jewels, WYLDPRTY, and Drum Cats. It's BYOB, free, and starts earlier than later: things we've come to love about the ol' Ranch
Come celebrate the release of Lagomorph's first EP tonight at Headhunters! $5 not only gets you in, it gets you a copy of said EP! That's a deal any way you spin it. On top of that, XathaX, Vinhomudeh, and Horse Crippler are bringing their own brands of strangely named madness to the stage. Come for the EP, stay for Zane's badass new mustache. Seems like just yesterday Lagomorph were having their first club show. Kids these days
Last Car Stereo Wars show? Really? Moving to New York? Who would do such a thing. Well, good for Chris Rose. Should be alot of fun. Catch all the mash-up madness one last time at the Beauty Bar
If, unlike me, you did not totally forgot to RSVP to this, you should go. Seems like a safe bet. Red Stripe always tastes better when it's free. Voted the event most likely to feature some drunk guy saying, "Hooray beer!" in an unidentifiable accent that could be Scottish? Cajun? Jamaican?
David Israel is a nice guy. I can't stop staring at this poster for some reason
I thoroughly enjoy the concept of STABBA (punk covers of ABBA), but have never caught them live. If you're similarly curious, this might be a good chance to find out for yourself. BANG and DJ Team Fabrication will be playing, too. I hear this is inside. Sometimes places that are inside have air conditioning. I'm pretty sure the Mohawk is one of those places
If you're following this blog, why not do so publicly? Don't get me wrong, I appreciate everyone who reads this blog, but we're what, 60 posts in? Make our love known. It's good for you and it's good for me. Also, any feedback you'd like to share. How can this blog work for you?

GAWEDDO
Come one come all and see DJ Blake Brandon and Jason of Neon black do their thing. I will not likely be playing tonight. I am exhausted. I am working. I will try to be there. Go anyway and hopefully I'll be back at Stereo Gallery soon, a'right? And a happy birthday to Owened!

VICS
My propensity for documenting culinary endeavors, instead of the other amazing things in my life: you have just seen it continue
This is the basement where the oft and afore mentioned party happened. We cleaned it until it shone and then filled it with music and beers. Then we cleaned it again. Phone Tag's first show went off without a hitch. In fact, it was really excellent. World War surprised me with their live music making abilities. And Patrick Cleandenim should come hang out in Austin and/or let me remix all of his songs. Primo all around. Thanks to everyone who came.

RUDD RIDER
In case you did not notice, those are two teletubbies (not trademarked in this case) playing some sort of soccer game. Goal? GOAAAAL. Oh, larf. Dollar stores are amazing everywhere you go. Send me pictures of of yours
AutoErotique is good live. Nice people are nice. Times Square is sensory mega-super-Christmas sensory overload. I ate at the Dallas BBQ. It tasted like Dallas, but not so much Texas. I miss Austin, but you should come visit

ARCHIVE SHMARCHIVE
I woke up to shrieking. It was oscillating. Brown water was pouring out of the smoke alarm. It is still raining. I walked through the rain last night after the L train decided it would go no further. The sink is leaking, too. Last night was alot of fun. People are still sleeping somewhere in the house. In the mean time:
Gryphon gave Kana an amazing Romulan haircut. AWESOME
There was infection
And now I am going to stop taking pictures and help make breakfast.
BONUS INSPIRATIONS

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
That's the basement where I'm sleeping. It is dark, dank, and wonderful. This Friday, it will be transformed into a venue. That makes me excited, but I'm not sure where I will sleep
Bathing of the hog of hedge, AKA Omelette. Did not know hedgehogs got baths. She was very perturbed by the whole experience, but she certainly does smell better now
And yes, that box made out of an American flag IS full of spicy fried chicken. Next time: pictures outside? band photos? more documentation of culinary adventures? The wonders never cease.

PLANARAMA
I'm going to be hanging out in Brooklyn for the next few weeks! During that time, this blog will be a bit different than what you've come to expect. The there will be more: random anecdotes, documentation of yankee-isms, some photos, and maybe some more diva profiles, if it rains alot. There will be fewer: suggestions about shows and general things to do. That being said, my link list has many excellent resources for the finding of things to do in Austin. Some of them even manage to promote bands they don't know personally without somehow being vaguely insulting. Someday, I too will master that art. It's on my to-do list right below cutting Nike swooshes into my beard
If you are aware of anything i should see or do in the NYC area, or perhaps even someone I should do some work for, please let me know. I am going into this a bit more blindly than I would like, but from what I hear, the East Coast is something like this:
I feel that expectation is reasonable. Should be fun. Happy birthday (in advance) to Owened, Abigail, Andy Man, and Brion! And do not not not forget to go to DJ Blake Brandon's weekly set tomorrow
It should make an excellent post/pre Golden Filter stop, too. Please water my pepper plants and be kind to each other while I am gone. Much love,

BIOPIG GENRE
3 - 3 - 3, it's 3 posts in one!
FRIDAY IS FOR ANIMALS
Come eat pizza, wear a pig mask, witness the mighty and unpredictable musical formations of Psychic Violence and Go Die, and get down to the ever fabulous space sounds of DJ MVSCLZ. Some costumes will be provided, but animal costumes of your own devising are encouraged. The purpose of this event is to gather footage for a piece that'll be on display at the Blanton in early July. Filming begins at 7 and the show ends at midnight. Where else but Okay Mountain
Still haven't made it out to Red Fez. That's probably because I make it a point to not go out of my way for belly dancing. Tonight though, all that jangly hoo-ha gives way to the sounds of Jon Nelson and Ryan Tomorrow. Visuals by the always amazing Shiny Kid and $2 Lonestars make this a required post Animal Collective stop
Two of Austin's very best DJs are playing Creekside tonight. Plus, Scion events mean the looming possibility of goody bags. And Richard Henry is just a darn decent fella that you know you can't say no
Feel the teal and socialize at this dependable every other Friday spot
SATURDAY
West Coasters and Canadians lay siege to Okay Mountain with a slew of artwork that encompasses several mediums. Reception from 7-10
Hometown heroes and NYC imports unite to give you MILK#9. In my opinion, Abominatron alone would make it worth stopping by, but you get oh so much more. NO COVER, y'all
SUNDAY
The Church of the Friendly Ghost and Salvage Vanguard Theater present a variety showcase of female artists, featuring How I Quit Crack, No Mas Bodas, and Nanobangbang. As a member of the patriarchy, I can can say it's important for females to assert themselves creatively via establishing commensurate arenas of influence and fostering a larger sense of community and cooperation. Putting all that aside, this lineup is hard to beat. It almost reads like a "best of" list. Doors at 8, a $5 suggested donation at the door, and BYOBooze. You know the SVT drill by now. Do it!

WAY TO BE
Thanks to everyone who made it out to STEREO GALLERY at Club Mixx last night. Good times. Love was in the air, I'm tellin you. It's happening every Wednesday, so come get some
AN EVENTFUL THURSDAY
Sweet! Get your live music fix with two of Austin's most talked about bands. The keywords here are dark, ambient, catchy, and cute. It'll make sense when you see them play. Seems like just yesterday White White Lights were playing their first show. Was it a year ago now? Hooray for you guys!
As the end of the 00s approaches, we are forced to, as a people, come to terms with our heritage and what it means to live in these uncertain times. Er, something. No soul searching required, just dancing. Perfect
Once a month, all the Anglophiles emerge from their caves full of Smiths posters to come celebrate the music of that tiny island to which we owe so much. Oh Britania, the ocean shines for thee
A space wolf shooting plasma from its mouth: let me count the ways this poster is amazing. The party doesn't disappoint either, so if you're in the mood to dance to things not English and/or 10 years old, this is where you ought to be! Peen Scene is gonna be hanging out, so come get your picture took
And thanks to Jason and co. for reminding me about this. I know nothing about the Helio Sequence's live show, but if you're a fan, I'm sure it's worth checking out. With so many cheap and free shows, do some club hopping and check out all your options!
On a personal note, I'm headed to Brooklyn next week to see the sights/some old friends and generally check things out. My schedule is pretty open, so if there's anything in particular I should see or do, or if you'll be in town, let me know!
